The CHS has a large selection of merchandise items for sale to our members and to the public. Several times per year we try to combine awareness activities with a sale of this merchandise. The CHS does not mark up these items for profit, as we hope that with more people wearing our merchandise, it will in turn increase awareness of Congenital Heart Disease in children and of The Children's Heart Society.
Assisting the Support Coordinator, Judy Dahl in planning topics for the monthly parent support meetings and/or providing one on one support to families in the hospital who have requested assistance.
We have several dates per year for Bingo's and a Casino every two years. In addition to these gaming fundraisers we also have periodic special events where we try to raise money for the services that the CHS provides. Check out our Events page for more information, and please contact the office with any fundraising ideas you may have.
This involves choosing an event, researching costs and possible dates and forwarding this information to the board. At least one parent will attend this event with their child/ren so volunteers are not asked to be responsible for other people’s children. Once your idea/budget is OK’d, then you would prepare the invite for the newsletter, host the event itself, and submit photos and a summary to the newsletter. Consider joining with a friend to plan an event. The office will help anyway it can with these events.
This role would take place in
the office, by booking ahead with Diane. Plan for a 3 hour shift plus
travel time. Your parking costs will be reimbursed by CHS.
This role would involve a 3 hour
shift at the office, 4 times a year. Help is needed to print the envelopes,
stuff and seal them. Your parking costs will be reimbursed.
This would involve working with the CHS office to do the hands-on work of preparing for one of our large family events. For example, it could involve planning and leading activities for an event. Or, it could be acting as a host family for a new family. Or, it could involve helping with phoning or emailing, for example when CHS receives free tickets from agencies in Edmonton. Or you could create an awareness events that would tie into the annual "A Day for Hearts" campaign. This could be done locally and/or regionally.
The board will listen to your idea and look at how it might work within CHS.
All members are welcome to attend one of our board meetings at any time to get an idea of what is involved. New Board members are voted in at our Annual General Meeting each year, which is held at our Christmas Party. |
